Account Director

The M&T Account Director is the primary trusted advisor and confidant for our largest most strategic accounts. He/She is responsible for the day to day account management, ongoing client revenue success, and the long term vision for our strategic accounts. This includes a solid understanding of our financial processes and profitability and proactively managing and developing client relationships to drive agency revenue and profitability. He/She is expected to be the primary strategic client contact and advisor, with visible ongoing engagement in our most innovative projects. Deep expertise in each client’s business strategy is required for this role.

About the job

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee one or multiple accounts: manage solid client relationships and work with internal teams to foster a strong understanding of client needs.
  • Function as a strategic business partner, advisor and relationship lead.
  • Understand the core of the client’s business and related personal environment in ways that allow you to create solutions to their most pressing issues.
  • Develop strategies, key initiatives/thinking that will be a primary catalyst for account growth, client satisfaction, and retention
  • Communicate clearly, and manage client and internal agency expectations
  • Leverage client knowledge to help agency teams understand and empathize with the client’s world (pain points, expectations, agendas, internal politics).
  • Support, inspire and constructively challenge the working team to create smart, innovative and creative work for our clients that delivers results.
  • Work closely with Leadership and Producers to ensure flawless execution of programs, making sure work is delivered on budget and on time.
  • Be proactive in calling regular meetings with the team to discuss work in progress, obstacles and opportunities.
  • Continuously grow and cultivate relationships with appropriate client influencers, executives and thought leaders to help maintain solid knowledge of client’s business and be seen as a strong trusted advisor
  • Author, manage/negotiate statements of work (and retainers if applicable) with producers and department leads.
  • Develop, train and manage direct reports and adjacent M&T staff, ensuring a high level of motivation and performance.

  • Client health, measured by the level of  client satisfaction with your work, advocacy on their behalf and overall team performance.
  • Contribution to the creation of smart, innovative and creative work that delivers results against client objectives and pushes the agency in the direction we want to go.
  • Client growth, measured by revenue and margin growth, as well as the diversity  and quality of briefs .
  • Internal team satisfaction and development reflected by direct reports’ motivation and growth as well as wider team feedback.

Who we're looking for

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have expert level strategy and account management experience in a product development, creative technology or experiential firm.
  • Candidate must be comfortable being assigned revenue goals and have the nature to consistently find ways to meet or achieve them
  • Aggressive creative boundary breaker. We are looking for a person that can push the boundaries on the types of work that M&T is engaged in.
  • Proactive and action oriented. Great multitasker
  • Exhibits integrity and trust and has demonstrated ability to build relationships with clients and internal partners
  • Exhibits self-development and desire to learn
