As part of our ongoing growth efforts, we seek an Executive Creative Director who can help us operationalize, scale, and lead our creative and technology team(s) and create new and innovative technology-driven brand experiences for our clients. As part of the M&T Executive Team, the ECD is a dynamic agency leader who drives and executes the creative vision across the agency to create and produce award-winning and high-quality work for clients. As our singular creative leader, the CCO will lead portfolios of client businesses, build and manage multidisciplinary teams (including their own creative and technology teams), and routinely interact with vital senior clients and stakeholders. A key part of this role will be building, training, and motivating a world-class creative and development team that will deliver on all M&T projects. This person should be an experienced agency operations professional capable of thriving in a highly innovative, integrated, and technology-driven environment. We need someone that will bring best-in-class knowledge on processes, tools, and ways of working that help our creative department produce quality products and experiences on time and on budget. We also need some who can build and mentor teams, and inspire individual contributors to constantly improve their work. This executive-level position will also be part of shaping the M&T value proposition, our capabilities, and our externally facing brand.

About the job

Responsibilities:

  • Inspire all levels of creative efforts at M&T, both internal and external.
  • Partner with accounts and strategy to review, lead, develop and craft unified creative briefs that are the spark to strategically sound and impactful ideas.
  • Provide high-level concept guidance to optimize creative work produced by your teams, as well as other departments and partners.
  • Promote and facilitate a culture of collaboration and innovation between agency departments (internal) and clients (external) to ensure strategy and campaign/program objectives stay intact across all deliverables.
  • Monitor creative operations and foster ongoing improvements in creative processes and methodologies.
  • Ensure creative objectives and approaches align with both agency and client goals and always strives to push the work further and make it better.
  • Lead creative for new business as well as pitch new business.
  • Inspire and motivate your team creatively — make it about them and the work, never about yourself.
  • Strive to be a thought leader in creative tools and technology-driven tactics.
  • Motivate reluctant clients to embrace better work than requested.
  • Determine short-term and long-term staffing plans and overall reporting structure for the team that helps drive the business we have today, but also plans for future capabilities.
  • Plan for contingencies and surprises in workflow, personnel, and ongoing challenges that occur as a usual way of life in our business.
  • Attract, develop and retain top creative, project management, UI/UX, and technology talent.
Who we're looking for

Background and Experience

The ideal Executive Creative Director will bring years of experience in preparing and performing this role. The successful candidate will demonstrate a mastery of many fields, including team building, design, creative strategy, operational execution, strategic planning, and financial management. Following are some of the most important things we’ll be looking for in this person’s background:

  • 10+ years of experience in an advertising, digital or creative technology agency environment
  • Extensive team building / leadership experience with both creatives and technology teams (which you will own)
  • Strong ability to grow client relationships
  • Expert design/direction and writing skills and experience
  • Outstanding presentation/pitching new business experience
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
  • Advanced understanding of marketing, advertising, and technology, emphasizing highly-digital creative environments. We need someone that is a master storyteller through technology.
  • A world-class portfolio of brand experiences
