🤖 Google's I/O conference biggest takeaways:

It's been a busy couple of days in the AI world. On the heels of OpenAI's busy week last week, Google recently announced a myriad of AI innovations and we are here to give you all of the tea 🫖.

  • Gemini 1.5 Flash was introduced: a lighter-weight model that’s designed to be fast and efficient to serve at scale. Paying users will have an AI assistant right beside their screen, equipped with comprehensive knowledge of all of their Google apps 🛠️.
  • You can ask Gemini to retrieve any content from all of these apps: Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Slides. No more hunting for the 'Sales Review PDF' attachment for 267+ hours!
  • Project Astra was shared: Google's vision for the future of AI assistants.
  • Search will soon introduce planning features, starting with meal and trip customization in Search Labs, with additional categories like parties and fitness to follow shortly 😯.
  • Great news for travelers: Gemini Advanced has a new planning feature that goes beyond a list of suggested activities and will create a custom itinerary just for you 🗺️. Say less!
  • Soon in Labs, Gemini will organize email attachments in Drive, create a sheet with the data, and analyze it with Data Q&A 📊.

In case you haven't had enough, here are 100 things Google announced at I/O 2024. You can watch the full Google I/O keynote presentation here. We are still catching our breaths from last week's AI news but hey, that's the world we live in, right? What are you most excited to try? We're all ears!

📉 CMOs report that budgets are getting cut

Gartner's 2024 CMO Spend Survey shows a 15% budget decline, with marketing budgets now at 7.7% of total revenue, down from 9.1% in 2023. Despite this, 64% of CMOs view AI as essential for strategy execution 🛠️. We are seeing that AI is becoming vital for maintaining productivity and effectiveness amid budget cuts. It's a pretty interesting read - more on the survey here.
